The Expo will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center. Our workshop will take place at 2:30pm in Preston Bradley Hall East.

Areas covered include: an overview of web site options for performing artists; web site content basics; creating promotional PDFs, a bio and a press release; contacting critics, reviewers and bloggers; getting your event listed; and promoting recordings (audio/video) on the web. Participants can bring any self-promotional materials that you already have created for Q&A and feedback.

Voices of Ascension at Alice Tully Hall

Voices of Ascension presents Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (original version) with international opera superstar Jennifer Larmore.

Composed near the end of his life, Rossini’s Petite Messe is one of the most delightful and unique works in the choral repertory. A blending of two worlds of opera and choral music, it combines a serious “solennelle” style and an extroverted, openly operatic style. Like Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s own Stabat Mater, his Messe is endowed with an abundance of beautiful arias, quartets, and choruses. We will be performing the work in its unique original version, featuring two pianos and harmonium.

As a special prelude for the evening, the concert will begin with Franz Liszt’s extraordinary piano Paraphrase Fantasia on Verdi’s Rigoletto performed by exceptional pianists, Anna Shelest and Kana Mimaki.
